The Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association has announced that applications are currently being accepted for the Compassionate Care Veterinary Student Scholarship. This award, established in 2016, is intended for vet students who are interested in animal welfare issues and have actively pursued this interest through volunteer work. The first place scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $3,000. Second place will receive a $2,000 scholarship, and third place will be awarded a $1,500 scholarship.
Applicants must be first, second, or third year students from AVMA accredited schools in the United States or Canada (including Ross and St. George’s). Applications must be submitted through the form on the HSVMA website (including two letters of recommendation, an academic transcript, a 400-500 word statement, financial information, and documentation of professional and volunteer activities related to animal welfare). Applications must be received by May 31, 2018. The scholarship recipients will be announced by July 15, 2018.
