The Jockey Club has announced that it will award a $15,000 scholarship ($7,500 per semester) to an outstanding student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an equine or potentially equine-related field.
The scholarship, which was first awarded in 2017, is intended for a current or prospective college student with an interest in an equine industry career path. Preference is given to applicants expressing a strong interest in becoming a part of the Thoroughbred industry, of course. The winner must also maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average and full time status to be eligible for the second semester scholarship payout.
Applications for the Jockey Club Scholarship are due March 31, 2018.
The Jockey Club also awards the $6,000 Jack Goodman Scholarship annually to a student attending the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program (RTIP). This will be the twelfth year for this scholarship program. The award is based on academic achievement, previous industry involvement, and the proposed career path within the Thoroughbred industry. The deadline to apply for this award is also March 31, 2018.
