Nestle Purina PetCare has announced plans to build a $320 million manufacturing and distribution center in Hartwell, Georgia. The factory is expected to add 240 new jobs over the next five years to the Purina workforce (which currently boasts more than 8,000 employees). Purina hasn’t opened a new U.S. factory in more than two decades, making this a very significant move for the company.
The distribution center is expected to open in 2018, with the production line being added in 2019. Several leading brands are produced by the St. Louis-based company including Purina One, Purina Dog Chow, Pro Plan, Beneful, Friskies, Fancy Feast, and Tidy Cats.
